Real Madrid have confirmed that Ibrahima Konaté has suffered a collateral ligament injury in his right leg, leaving the defender’s availability for the club’s next matches uncertain.
The France international was forced to leave the national-team camp after experiencing discomfort during training. He subsequently returned to Madrid for further assessment in coordination with the French medical staff.
Real Madrid release medical update
Following medical tests carried out on Thursday, Real Madrid confirmed that Konaté has sustained an injury to the collateral ligament of his right leg.
The club’s official medical report did not provide a specific recovery timetable, stating that his progress will need to be monitored before a clearer indication of his absence can be established.
That means there is currently no confirmed date for Konaté’s return to competitive action.
Konaté leaves France camp
Konaté picked up the problem while preparing with France during the international break. The initial assessment from the French side described the issue as a slight right-knee sprain, prompting the defender to return to Real Madrid rather than continue with the national team.
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has been brought into the France squad as his replacement.
Konaté will therefore miss France’s Nations League fixtures during the current international window while he continues his recovery under Real Madrid’s supervision.
Important period ahead for Real Madrid
The timing of the injury will be a concern for Real Madrid, with Konaté having quickly become an important part of the team’s defence since arriving from Liverpool.
The centre-back has started regularly under José Mourinho and has also featured in Real Madrid’s Champions League campaign this season.
The club’s next assessment of Konaté’s condition will therefore be closely followed, particularly with a demanding run of fixtures awaiting after the international break.
At present, Real Madrid have not confirmed how many matches the defender could miss. His recovery will determine whether he is available when club football resumes.
Konaté’s return remains dependent on his recovery
While the initial reports suggested a relatively minor knee problem, Real Madrid’s latest diagnosis specifically identifies a collateral ligament injury.
There is currently no official return date, meaning speculation over the length of his absence should be treated cautiously until the club provides another medical update.
For now, Real Madrid will monitor Konaté’s progress and assess his condition before deciding when he can return to full training and competitive football.
