Thomas Tuchel Reveals Manchester City Verdict Is a Major Topic Inside England Camp

England manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Manchester City’s financial ruling has become a major subject of discussion among his players during the current international break.

Speaking ahead of England’s Nations League meeting with Croatia on Saturday, Tuchel acknowledged that members of the squad have been discussing the case, including the Manchester City players currently with the national team. He said the conversations had been brief, with the squad remaining focused on preparations for the upcoming match.

Manchester City were found guilty by an independent commission of financial-rule breaches covering nine seasons between 2009-10 and 2017-18, as well as several charges relating to their cooperation with the investigation. The club has consistently denied wrongdoing and has now formally appealed the commission’s findings.

Tuchel keeps focus on England

The England squad includes Manchester City players Marc Guéhi and Elliot Anderson, while Nico O’Reilly has returned to his club after withdrawing from the camp because of injury.

Tuchel was also asked whether he would continue selecting City players if the club were eventually relegated from the Premier League. The England manager said he would assess players on a case-by-case basis and would not automatically exclude them because their club was no longer competing in the top flight.

For now, England’s attention is on Croatia, with Tuchel stressing that the City situation has not changed the team’s preparations for the Nations League fixture.
