Vinícius, Raphinha and Endrick Help Brazil Avoid Another Setback Against Australia

Brazil recovered from a difficult first half to beat Australia 4-2 in Brisbane, with Vinícius Júnior, Raphinha and Endrick all playing important roles in a dramatic comeback. 

The result gave Carlo Ancelotti’s side their first victory of the two-match tour of Australia after the teams had drawn 1-1 in Townsville a few days earlier. 

Brazil Make Fast Start

Brazil wasted little time making an impact at Suncorp Stadium.

Vanderson opened the scoring inside the first three minutes with a powerful finish after a quick attacking move. The goal gave Brazil an ideal start, but Australia responded strongly as the first half developed. 

The hosts equalised in the 28th minute when Alessandro Circati converted from a corner. VAR was required before the goal was confirmed after an initial decision against Australia.

Only a few minutes later, Australia went ahead.

Connor Metcalfe produced one of the moments of the match, finding space outside the area before firing an excellent effort beyond the Brazilian goalkeeper to make it 2-1. 

Raphinha Brings Brazil Level

Brazil needed a response before the break, and Raphinha provided it.

Harry Souttar was penalised for a challenge on Danilo inside the area, giving Brazil a penalty. Raphinha confidently converted to make the score 2-2 just before half-time. 

The goal was particularly important for the Barcelona forward, who had been handed the captain’s armband and was used as a central striker by Ancelotti.

However, Raphinha did not return for the second half. He was replaced by Endrick after experiencing discomfort in his right leg. The Brazilian federation later confirmed the muscle issue, with the injury requiring further assessment. 

Endrick Changes the Game

Endrick’s introduction gave Brazil another attacking option and the young forward quickly became involved.

The second half also featured a heated confrontation between Endrick and Harry Souttar, adding further tension to an already intense contest. 

But Endrick’s biggest contribution came with the ball.

In the 69th minute, the forward broke forward before supplying Bruno Guimarães, who finished the move to put Brazil back in front at 3-2. 

The goal shifted momentum firmly towards Brazil.

Vinícius Júnior Seals the Comeback

Vinícius Júnior had endured a relatively quiet first half, but the Real Madrid forward became increasingly influential after the break.

His performance improved as Brazil found more space in attack, and he eventually put the result beyond Australia’s reach.

Nestory Irankunda was penalised for bringing down Vinícius inside the box, allowing the Brazilian forward to take the resulting penalty. Vinícius calmly converted in the 80th minute to complete Brazil’s 4-2 victory. 

The victory means Brazil finish their Australian tour with one win and one draw. Their next friendly will come against India in Kolkata on Saturday.
