Kai Havertz Injury Update: Positive News Emerges After Germany Withdrawal

Arsenal have received encouraging news over Kai Havertz after the forward was forced to leave Germany’s Nations League clash with the Netherlands because of a suspected hamstring injury.

Havertz started for Germany in Jürgen Klopp’s first match as national-team head coach, but his evening was cut short after around 30 minutes in Amsterdam. The Arsenal forward appeared to be struggling with his thigh and was replaced by Younes Ebnoutalib. 

Havertz returns to Arsenal for assessment

The 27-year-old will now leave the Germany camp and return to Arsenal, where he will undergo further medical assessment.

According to David Ornstein, there is early optimism that Havertz has not suffered a serious injury. The initial concern is a hamstring problem, although further assessment is required before the full extent of the issue can be established. 

Germany boss Jürgen Klopp also confirmed after the 1-1 draw that Havertz and Jamal Musiala were undergoing MRI scans. Klopp said he hoped both players would be able to return to action relatively quickly. 

Important news for Arsenal

The update will come as a relief to Mikel Arteta, with Havertz having played an important role for Arsenal during the opening weeks of the season.

The German has started all five of Arsenal’s Premier League matches and has scored twice, establishing himself as Arteta’s preferred central striker ahead of Viktor Gyökeres. 

Arsenal are not scheduled to return to Premier League action until 10 October, when they host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium. That gives Havertz time to recover if the injury proves to be a minor strain. 

Arsenal will wait for medical results

For now, Arsenal will not want to make any assumptions about Havertz’s recovery timeline until the medical examinations have been completed.

The positive early indication from Ornstein is that the problem may not be serious, but the final diagnosis will determine whether Havertz can return in time for Arsenal’s next Premier League fixture.

For Arsenal, the immediate priority will be getting their forward fully assessed and avoiding any unnecessary risk with his recovery.
