Raphinha Takes Brazil’s No. 10 Shirt After Neymar’s International Exit

Raphinha has been handed Brazil’s iconic No. 10 shirt as the Seleção begin a new chapter following Neymar’s departure from international football.

The Barcelona winger wore No. 11 during Brazil’s 2026 World Cup campaign, while Neymar was the player wearing the famous No. 10. For Brazil’s first matches of the new cycle, however, the shirt has been reassigned to Raphinha. 

A new era for Brazil

The decision comes as Brazil move into a new international cycle under Carlo Ancelotti. Neymar is no longer part of the squad after ending his Brazil career, while Raphinha has been included among the experienced players expected to play an important role going forward. 

The 29-year-old Barcelona star has also started the new season in impressive form. He recently scored a hat-trick against Sevilla, taking his tally to 14 goals in seven matches for Barcelona at that point. 

Raphinha inherits one of football’s most famous numbers

Brazil’s No. 10 carries a huge historical significance, having previously been worn by legendary players including Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Neymar.

Raphinha now becomes the latest player to take on that responsibility as Brazil look toward the next international cycle and the 2030 World Cup.

His first opportunity to wear the number comes during Brazil’s September friendlies, beginning with the match against Australia in Townsville on September 25. Brazil will also face Australia again on September 29 before meeting India on October 3.
