Kylian Mbappé’s latest injury scare has turned out to be less serious than initially feared, with the Real Madrid forward expected to miss around 10 to 12 days.
Mbappé avoids serious knee injury
Real Madrid have received encouraging news regarding Kylian Mbappé after the French striker underwent medical examinations in Madrid.
Mbappé picked up the problem during France’s Nations League match against Turkey on Friday. He felt discomfort in his left knee shortly after scoring the opening goal, prompting concerns about the severity of the injury.
Tests carried out after his return to Madrid showed that the forward has suffered a hyperextension of the posterior capsule of his left knee. The expected recovery period is approximately 10 to 12 days.
Madrid hopeful of Mbappé’s return
The diagnosis means Mbappé could return sooner than initially feared. Real Madrid are now monitoring his recovery, with the club facing an important run of fixtures in the coming weeks.
According to the latest report, the Frenchman could be available for the first El Clásico of the season against Barcelona on October 25, provided his rehabilitation progresses as expected.
Before that fixture, Madrid have several important matches on their schedule, including games against Villarreal, Roma, Sevilla and Leipzig.
Same knee had caused previous problems
The injury has naturally attracted attention because it affects the same knee that caused Mbappé problems last season.
The previous issue kept him out for 12 matches and also affected his involvement in several other games. That history explains the initial concern following his latest incident.
For now, however, the medical assessment provides Real Madrid with considerably more positive news. Mbappé is expected to follow a recovery programme before gradually returning to team training and competitive action.
What happens next?
Real Madrid will continue to assess Mbappé’s condition during the coming days. His availability for the matches immediately after the international break will depend on how quickly he responds to treatment.
The main objective will be to ensure the forward makes a complete recovery before returning to the pitch.
