Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski has admitted he is reflecting on his future as speculation grows over whether he will remain at the club beyond this season.
The 37-year-old forward has one year left on his contract, and reports from The Athletic suggest Barcelona expect him to depart next summer. The club is already exploring options for a new central striker, with Atlético Madrid’s Julián Álvarez reportedly high on president Joan Laporta’s list.
Lewandowski, who returned from injury during Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Elche on Sunday, maintained a calm stance regarding his situation:
“I feel good physically. I’m playing a few minutes now, and for me, the most important thing is to help the team win. As for my future, I’m calm — I’m thinking about what’s best for me.”
Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Club Brugge, the Polish striker emphasized that his focus remains on performing well for both club and country:
“Right now, I’m only thinking about Barcelona and the national team — to keep improving, to score goals, and to win titles. A lot can change in life, but I’m happy and focused on this season.”
Lewandowski’s career has been nothing short of remarkable. After spending 12 years in Germany, scoring 447 goals in 562 matches for Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, he joined Barcelona in 2022. Since then, he has netted 105 goals in 157 appearances, winning five trophies, including two La Liga titles.
However, injuries have disrupted his current campaign, limiting him to only three starts so far. Last season, he was a key figure in Barcelona’s success, scoring 42 goals in 52 games.
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick praised the striker’s professionalism and versatility:
“No one has asked me about Robert,” Flick said. “He’s not only a great scorer — he’s also good defensively and excellent at clearing corners. In my career, I haven’t worked with a more professional player than Robert Lewandowski.”
