WENGER: BAYERN AND PSG ARE FAVORITES TO WIN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, ALONGSIDE EPL CLUBS

After Arsenal’s dominant 3-0 away win against Slavia Prague in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage, former manager Arsène Wenger shared his thoughts on this season’s strongest contenders.

Speaking to beIN Sports, Wenger stated:

“Aside from the English clubs, I believe Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are the two teams most likely to win the Champions League this season.”

He also mentioned Real Madrid as another serious threat but emphasized that Bayern and PSG have the advantage of focusing on Europe since their domestic titles are practically secured.

“Paris Saint-Germain will win Ligue 1, and Bayern are nearly guaranteed the Bundesliga title. Their focus will naturally shift toward Europe.”

Wenger added that the competition will be exciting, with five Premier League clubs in contention:

“PSG aren’t at their best, Real Madrid are still finding their rhythm, but Bayern are currently in their prime.”

Former Premier League striker Danny Deeney echoed Wenger’s views, naming Arsenal and Bayern Munich among the top favorites:

“Everyone agrees the top three are PSG, Bayern, and Arsenal,” Deeney said on CBS Sports. “The order might change, but those three stand out.”

Deeney pointed out that Arsenal’s consistency makes them equally deserving of top contender status:

“After beating PSG, Bayern look like clear favorites, but Arsenal’s form can’t be ignored. They lead both the Premier League and the Champions League groups, and the Premier League is arguably tougher than the Bundesliga.”

He concluded by highlighting Arsenal’s defensive record:

“They’ve kept eight straight clean sheets. Both teams are strong, but Bayern Munich are absolutely among the best right now.”
